One idea I have had for an art project may finally be doable, as I think this coming art show may be one of the best places for an interactive art piece. The idea is to take this image of a wall in Philadelphia, make into a drawing pad, then asking patrons to add their graffiti to the wall.
This wall may be an ugly wall, but as the artists that already added their graffiti saw, there is a lot of potential. Developers saw potential in the building as well, since you can see multiple layers of paint and construction that are decaying on the wall.
All that I would have to do to make this photo into something that cafe patrons can draw on is add a protective layer of plastic that a dry erase marker can be used on (which is one way dry erase boards are made.) The reason I would use this is because it is solid enough that people would have space to draw, and the wall itself reveals some of the history that I love about Philadelphia. I may include some other photos as well, and maybe some other artwork, yet having something that engages the audience will make the opening reception a bit more lively. The cafe also wanted to showcase the neighborhood, so I wanted to find a way to incorporate that.
Perhaps showing that I can do more then just make art and display it can lead into some good directions, but we will see. Overall though I am putting in as much effort as I can into this show, but all my work can only go so far if it is only my effort.
