Dead serious humor

Although I don’t usually go out or celebrate halloween much but these jokes from instagram are too much! My job is also requiring me to dress up too, so I needed some ideas other then cutting eye wholes in a white sheet.

Other that here’s what I came up with, which I uploaded to insragram. Outside of work though I am probably going to celebrate reformation day with the church family, as it’s almost the 500th, which you can click the image to go to that site.anniverery!

However you celebrate, happy holidays✌🏼️Juliana

Sleepless Sunday Blues

School, and stress is making me feel like a hot mess, but I am still VERY thankful that it is all for a reason. I try to hold on to the idea that having my art, my writing, and everything else questioned in a philosophical way may be stressful (at at times painful) for now, but it it the pain that helps to encourage growth, and that it eliminates the things that are not really worth it in the long run. Here is a little preview of some of that work, one is the almost finished metal sculpture, and the other is from a class called YAW. The YAW portraint is pastels on black paper and was meant to be experamental

stress is normal though, and I am seeing some call this period in art school called creative fatigue, or other similar things. Which, is why I may do an art project on it.

Here’s a glimps into that project…

As for what I am reading, the authors deserve a shout out as they have some quality, and/ or inspiring. These two authors touched on some similar thoughts I was having. If I were to use these for school, as I try to participate in the philosophical discussions that are happening, I would have to quote them in a more academic style, and I might not be able to use the writing anyway. In this way I hope that you can read exactly what I was looking at, and click the share buttons on their page, if you wish to send it to someone or share it.

  1. from someone called Shrineart on tumblr. (I do not think this is the original writer, but it is still encouraging.)  http://killyouranxiety.com/post/122795812800/before-you-hate-your-art-or-stop-drawing

Here are some of the other artsy things I have been working on….

Like this News van infront of my college, I think some of these photos need an explanation, but I’ll get those ideas organized in my free time. (Which may take a while, but at least you can google the news story😉. I also may have touched on some of these photos in other blogpost!)

Too much Tuesday

I had a better name for this post, which I’ll save for another time! Cause I forgot it. Whatever the case is, I have had a distractingly busy schedule, which has made life more stressful at the moment, even if I know it will be worth.

Instead of mentioning all the papers and thesises that are due, I’ll show off the art. (Which I have to write about as well😏)This assignment took a few weeks, and it wont be finished until Friday, after some finishing touches are added. It is basically a bunch of different steel rods that have been woven together with a blow tourch. My friend thinks it looks like a spider, I am not sure if it should remind us of any real world items though. This is an image basically meant to illustrated how I wove it, and the ones below are its current state. Hopefully this shows how drastically different the curves can be depending on the angle, and how each unique rod affected it.I still really needto show off some of the other work, or just get some photos from other events, like this leadership conference, or some work from my only other studio class. But that will come soon! This is a photo of my scribbled notes, which eventually I added the paper plate, and cup for the sake of the image. Below is a still from the presentation, about culture.

The sewed heart on my sleeve

It’s not quite a Sunday shout out, but somethings are too fabulous to wait. Moore, and all the programs and seem to be never ending (as some of their events are part of the school assignments, others are great for jobs and net working, or there are a dozen of other reasons they host an event.) Yesterday there were two back to back events, one of which was a fashion show, and that is the one I don’t want to wait too much, cause like this video, if you blink you may miss something.

There are two treasured friends that I will be showing off, partly just for their talents or hard work, and partly for the fact that I was able to secretly snap some photos of their work process. All of which I hope can help to show off how the process grew and refinded their creative designs, to eventually create a high fashion (aka contour) finished work.

There are many talented designers at this school, and during my time as a college student I have learned not to see any of them as more talented (or other negative emotions that people wresle with.) Rather I have started to see their creativity kind of like their signature, as it is a unique reflection of who they are, that is reflected best when they are passionate about what they are making, and comfortable with the skills required to make those thought out ideas real.

I do have give a shout out to the models as well, many of which are Moore students, or friends of the designers, as they are talented too!

Modern Monday

Guess where I was!  Maybe these photos from the journey can tip you off…

It’s a famous museum, with famous works of art. Which may be part of the reasons  for these books from their gift shop. And yes Van Gogh’s work is here, with others, like andy warhol, Duchamp, and dozens more.this place also has some notable art related to the current decade, not just related to modern art styles or time periods

this image appeared out of order, as it should appear lower in the post.. oh well😞

This is just one of the exhibits I was inspired by, as it relates to immigration and stuff like that, with a modern art twist.

I am not sure if these other images have any clear give aways, but this map surely does!Yup yup, I was at the MoMa! Even if you’re not a museum, or an art fan, this museum has played a role in your life, and if you go to their site, or look at a history or an art text book you’ll see what I mean.

Anywho, I would love to share more, but here are some of the highlights that show the museum as more then their art. And I also am thankful that my college gave me the chance to explore the museum, and hopefully one day I can return and use some of their educational resources. (Oddly I know a bit about their education department, which seems really cool, but I would like to see it and use it, instead of observing it online.)

Here is a timelapse of me leaving the building, which I hope shows how majorly packed the places is even 2 hours before closing, on a random September day. If not that, then it just chronicals more of my journey thourgh a 6 story museum with hundreds of artworks that are known around the world. If you see a lot of rain coats, and unbrellas.. It was not an enjoyable day for outside activities… Which maybe the reason a few of us caught a cold.

So until next time,

♥️Juliana
